Born and raised in Iceland, Katrin Davíðsdóttir is a two-time CrossFit Games champion and author (check out her book, Dottir). She’s a force for Positive Energy and loves sharing her personal journey, full of light and challenges, in order to inspire others to achieve the seemingly impossible.
“I was born competitive and I thrived on the discipline of training in gymnastics. At 16, I quit and was searching for something else, I tried out track and field for a while but never found my event. Then in 2011, a fellow Icelander, Annie, (who now is my best friend!) won the CrossFit Games and it was all over the news and media in Iceland. I decided I wanted to try THAT! I wanted to do what she was doing. Right from the start, I did CrossFit competitively with the goal of making the CrossFit Games.”
“CrossFit has shown me and taught me so much. It has truly shown me what I am made of, it challenges me every single day showing me that if I rise to a challenge, keep working hard and persevere I can do anything I set my mind to. I have been inspired by so many around me, and I want to give that back.”
“It all starts with good sleep for me, so getting to bed early the night before, sleeping well and getting all the sleep I need so I can wake up with good energy! I love my slow mornings. It's really important to me that I get to sit down with my coffee (I get so excited for my cup of coffee every morning!) EVEN if it's just for 10 minutes. My best mornings are when I get to read something that expands my mind or gives me great perspective….Then at 8:45am I head to the gym. We have a 9:15am start every morning with the team and that's when we do our aerobic session or intervals. Few things beat a good sweat in the morning!”
“My FAAAAAVORITE has been the coconut mocha that I mix with ice and light oat milk. My other go to is ginger tea with Vanilla Super Creamer. I drink that more in the afternoons and at night. I never have a coffee later than noon!”
“Wow. This is actually something I am VERY MUCH still learning myself. I guess long answer short: just knowing your priorities, organizing yourself well and being able to be focused when needed, but then present and joyful with the people and things that fill up your heart (the things that don't do that: hard NO). That I guess is an important one: learn to say no to things that don't fill up your cup.”
“Knowing that we are ALL going through this. All of us together. Zooming out and seeing the bigger picture always reminds me just how small I am in this universe & how we all are a part of something bigger. My struggles are not special. We all struggle, struggle is what forces us to grow so struggle well.”
